HURRICANE IRENE
August 25, 2011
Severe Weather Recommendations
08/25/11
Hurricane Irene is approaching the Eastern Coast of the US. Although nothing is certain, it does appear that the Village of West Hampton Dunes will experience some type of a tropical weather event this weekend.
Outdoor Furniture/Items
It is strongly advised that all residents remove and/or secure all outside furniture and other outdoor items. During these events these items can quickly become projectiles and cause property damage and even personal injuries. Boats, personal water craft, kayaks and row boats should also re removed and/or secured.

CLICK HERE for the National Weather Service website for up to date tracking data on this storm.
Plan Accordingly
If you don't already have one, create an emergency action plan. Items such as a battery powered radio, flashlight, water and other provisions is a good start. How about an evacuation plan? The village is in an evacuation area and residents should plan for this possibility. Remember that emergency assistance can be limited or impossible during a storm. If you are advised to evacuate and you choose to remain at your residence keep this in mind.
 |
WATCH vs. WARNING KNOW THE DIFFERENCE |
 | |
 |

|
A HURRICANE WATCH issued for your part of the coast indicates the possibility that you could experience hurricane conditions within 48 hours. This watch should trigger your family's disaster plan, and protective measures should be initiated, especially those actions that require extra time such as securing a boat, leaving a barrier island, etc. |
 |
A HURRICANE WARNINGissued for your part of the coast indicates that sustained winds of at least 74 mph are expected within 36 hours or less. Once this warning has been issued, your family should be in the process of completing protective actions and deciding the safest location to be during the storm. |

From the C.W. Brown Team
June 06, 2011
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Charlie Brown's passing yesterday morning. Charlie, with his wife Renee, built an outstanding family business with General Contracting projects throughout the Westchester and Tri-state area. He was our leader and our friend, with a dedication to a full life and all those around him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Renee, Amy, Kimberly and Molly, and their extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville, NY on Thursday, June 9th from 2pm - 8pm. In celebration of Charlie's life all are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, June 10th at 11am at the office of C.W. Brown Inc., 1 Labriola Court, Armonk, NY. His most recent and proudest accomplishment was gaining LEED Platinum Certification of this site, which serves as an emblem of the future Green Westchester County.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of Charlie Brown be made to the Westchester Community College Foundation. Charlie was a proud Westchester Community College Graduate and Foundation Board Member. He was passionate about the wonderful mentorship programs offered by WCC, and it is the family's hope that through donations his enthusiasm for mentoring youth can be carried on. Please send donations to: WCC Foundation, 75 Grasslands Road, Valhalla, NY 10595..
